"[E]ven that (i.e., the Israelites) falsehood has redounded to God's glory and the work of salvation. ... The Israelites were 'entrusted' with God's oracles, but if some proved unfaithful, that cannot nullify God's faithfulness, for God will be true even if every human is false. In other words, God will work through Israel for the salvation of the world, even though Israel as a whole will turn away. What's more, indeed, God will work through Israel's large-scale turning away for the salvation of the world! ... only when Romans is understood as a tightly composed symphonic whole can its various parts be understood." 이것은 소위 '기능주의적 사회학'의 신선한 적용이 아닐 것입니다. 오히려 이것은 바울이 깨달은 역사의 통찰이며, 오직 메시야의 죽음과 부활로 말미암아 '새롭게 열린,' 참 계시입니다. 이스라엘과 함께 한국교회까지도 믿음으로 집어넣어 읽으며, 하나님의 헤아릴 수 없는 지혜와 그 선하신 뜻의 신실하신 성취를 소망하며 찬양합니다.
